The Founder’s Award Winners

In last month’s newsletter, we shared a feature on the Founder’s Award, an award presented to individuals who embody the fundamental values of the company, produce quality work and display characteristics valued and appreciated by coworkers. The winners were nominated and voted on by their peers and we are proud to announce the two recipients of the award this year: Kaylene Hahlbeck and Paula Quase.

Kaylene Hahlbeck was selected for this award because she embodies all of the qualities Pacific Specialty Insurance Company looks for in an exemplary employee. She checked every box when it came to criteria for the nomination, including exhibiting all four of our core values: Family, Home, Profitability and Trust. Kaylene is constantly receiving praise and accolades from her co-workers and adjusters. As an employee, she is reliable and can be counted on in any circumstance. She is a trusted member of the PSIC community, and her loyalty makes her a confidante to fellow employees and those who she does business with.

Kaylene specializes in handling claims and excels when it comes to client relations. Using her negotiation skills, Kaylene is very cost-conscious and is always looking for the most cost-effective options to save the company money without compromising quality. Her colleagues are “impressed by Kaylene’s commitment to high service and quality.” Kaylene is someone who will never say “that’s not my job” and is “100% dedicated to our customers” by proactively taking ownership and accountability. She goes above and beyond what her job description entails, all while maintaining a positive attitude and performing at an exceeding level. Her attention to detail is notable and her reliability as an employee, a co-worker, a friend and a peer makes her a very deserved recipient of this award.

The second recipient, Paula Quase, encompasses all of the criteria for this nomination as well, exhibiting outstanding qualities in all four of Pacific Specialty Insurance Company’s corporate values. Paula is looked up to for her expertise in the insurance industry, but she is always willing to go above and beyond to complete a job or help a co-worker. Paula consistently volunteers for additional responsibilities whenever anything is needed or required. She has a great ability to problem solve and make quick and accurate decisions.  She successfully organized meetings with our Reinsurance Executives as well as the Audits for Allstate/IVANS, GenRe, Munich Re and another large audit for four of our Reinsurers (Swiss Re, Hannover Re, Everest Re and SCOR).

On top of organizing these important events, Paula also managed to coordinate the 2018 Financial Audit. There are truly no limits on what Paula can accomplish and she is always so willing to meet the requirements of her job description and go well beyond what is asked of her. Paula is always willing to assist anyone in any department, as she is aware that by helping others, she is ultimately helping the company. Simply put, Paula is amazing.

These two incredibly hardworking individuals are such great examples of how an employee can become a leader in their own right and their contributions to the company have been invaluable.

Congratulations to Kaylene and Paula on receiving this award!
