2018 Year End Note from CEO Mike McGraw

2018 Year End Note from CEO Mike McGrawThis year has been one filled with forward progress, growth, and positive changes. I, personally, have proudly watched members of our community step up and embody new leadership roles all while supporting their teams. Our producers have continued to excel in their own right as an invaluable resource for our insureds – and their loyalty has not gone unnoticed. This year was about getting back to our roots.

We looked inward at our personal mission and made some adjustments to our core values to reflect this “stripping down” of sorts. As a team, we decided on four pillars as the basis of our business.

1) Family: We support and respect each other, we are a family. We are able to rely on one another and lean on each other for support in good times and bad. We want to see everyone excel and share in the success of others. We help each other, we are resources for our peers.

2) Home: We are your home away from home and will be there when you need us most. This year we got a new home in our brand new office space. This is a safe, collaborative space for employees to express themselves freely in a respectful manner.

3) Profitability: Sustainability is key. All of the changes implemented over the past year have been made with this in mind. We measure strategic growth with ultimate financial impact. We never act with greed but need to be profitable to take care of our families.

4) Trust: We evoke a sense of trust within our corporate walls and to the outside world. We trust in our producers, our producers trust in us. We need to maintain this balance. This trust is both implicit and explicit.

To me, the four elements above are personal. My parents, Jack and Joan McGraw, started this great company. It is a true family business. I spent most of my childhood at the office, it was my second home for all intents and purposes. In order to run a successful business, profitability is always of the utmost importance. And none of the above can be made possible without trust.

We are lucky to have such an excellent community of individuals who share in these core values. Many of our employees and producers have had their own family members work for us, many consider Pacific Specialty Insurance Company their second home. We want to continue to build on this network as we close out 2018 and head into 2019.

Happy Holidays and we’ll see you in 2019!

Best,
Mike McGraw
